One of the best things I love about Steemit is its influence to create impactful and successful projects to different communities even beyond the Steem blockchain. Everyone is given the chance to initiate philanthropic missions as long as the intention is genuine. In fact, @indayclara, a promising and enthusiastic Steemian, is initiating “The Awesome SMILE Project” to give smiles to the street children of Cebu, Philippines.
This is a small but meaningful mission to put a smile on their faces, give hope to their dreams and inspire them to be so much more. - @indayclara
Beneficiaries’ Background
During the Cebu Writers' Guild 2nd Session, @indayclara introduced this project with us.
The Capuchin Tertiary Sisters of the Holy Family have opened the parking area of their dormitory to these children. The kids stay at the place every morning, between 9:00 to 12:00pm, except Tuesdays and Sundays. This place has become a safe haven for kids: to have free meals, take a shower, wash their clothes and sleep for a while. The free meals they have are sponsored by generous people.
This event will be conducted this June 2, 2018, Saturday, at Luis Amigo Dormitory, Cebu City, Philippines.

The Calling
Despite the hardships I encountered, I still consider myself lucky and blessed enough compared to some people who are struggling to provide for their basic needs such as food and clothes. Steemit has been a great bridge to extend my blessings to other people in need. In fact, my first ever @steemph.cebu physical involvement was “The Gift Giving” activity held last December 2017.
Days after that, I and my colleagues also initiated a gift-giving activity for the children of one of the remote barangays here in Cebu. My Steemit earnings that time really contributed to make such activity a successful one.
“The Awesome SMILE Project” is another time to extend our blessings to the street children of Cebu City. We have already seen successful charity events before, and that's what makes me very positive about this project’s outcome.
