Roses are my favorite flowers and red is my favorite color. Red roses are my favorite combination. :) This year our roses are blooming so nicely. We had them over the years, but this season they are looking special, beautiful and elegant like never before.
I was patiently waiting for the first rose to spread the petals this season. Of course I noticed it when it happened - it was on the smallest bush out of four. Soon after that, a few more appeared. And then, out of nowhere, I realized that all four rose bushes are holding many pretty roses. When life hits you with unexpected situatuion like I had recently in my family (everything is okay now), you miss noticing some things even when they happen right in front of your eyes.
It was few days ago when the reality hit me. I stood in front of my house for a minute, looking at this beauty and in my mind apologizing I wasn't paying attention. I touched the roses, I smelled them, I touched them and smelled them again. I was looking closely, then I would step back. I was watching bees working hard. Then I compared the sizes of the bushes - out of two big ones with red roses, one is right under my window. The medium has pink roses with white pattern and the smallest bush is red roses again.
I was completely mesmerized by our lovely flowers. Then I remembered to look at the thorns on the big bushes. They were big, pointy and sharp. I didn't dare to touch them. This is one of the reasons why roses are my favorite flowers - below the gentle and soft petals, there are sharp thorns. I see that as vulnerabitily and strength, as elegance and wildness. You have to be careful with a rose. For me the color red represents the color of love, passion and blood. I see shades of red in the sunsets and in fire. It is pure and heavy, hypnotizing and hard to ignore.
I know post is kind of random, but I hope there people out there who will maybe be able to relate. Thanks to my roses for the inspiration, I promise I won't lose you out of sight again. And to my future husband, if you are reading this, now you know a way to my heart (chocolate is another one, just for the record lol).
