Intense Food Movies - Consistency or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Post on a Daily Basis - Part 5

Thanks for checking out my consistency experiment!
Today, I made it to part 5. Five days of blogging in a row. A tiny milestone.

Feel free to sneak a peak at part 1, 2, 3 and 4 here. Or just continue reading. Whatever you feel like. I hope that sharing the process of my search for consistency and my discoveries along the way, might benefit you one way or another.

If you are more of a visual person than a reader, or just plain lazy, feel free to scroll down to [START OF THE FUN PART] and go directly to the clips that I selected.

Yesterday, I found out that if I don't talk - or should I say 'write'? - film, writing is a little less fun for me. So I will add some film to this conversation.

It really helps me to write about film(making).

Not sure why, but just before starting this post, I was thinking of food movies. I tend to think of food and movies a lot, so that might be the reason. I'm actually quite a skinny guy - 6 feet tall and about 70kgs but believe me if I say I can eat.

The first food films that pop up are, in no particular order:

Eat, Drink, Man, Woman. A movie directed by Ang Lee (probably most famous for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) - Never seen it, but the title really stuck with me.
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and her Lover (a crazy - in a good way - movie by British artist Peter Greenaway)
Taxidermia (an unforgettable Hungarian film for people with a strong stomach)
The Green Butchers
Delicatessen

The last two are pretty similar themed movies from Denmark and France.

Let me brainstorm on this a little more...

I could come up with some more food movies easily, but I try to avoid the cliches. Those that everyone has seen.

Around the start of this century, I was a walking film encyclopedia. Most of that knowledge is still stored somewhere in my memory. There was a time when I could list movies by director, chronologically, including the release year. That's a little harder for me now, I might miss one or two or be a year off, haha

Another movie that came to mind, though it isn't necessarily a food movie, it's actually a road movie about wine, is Sideways (2004). I'm mentioning it anyway, as the content of my post is entirely up to me. Freedom of speech, I guess.

[START OF THE FUN PART]

Let's throw in some fun stuff. Movies that entered my mind, mainly because of certain (disgusting) scenes concerning eating:

Here's the main course, served by your parents' in law. Salad is made by granny and you may cut the chicken. This is a scene from the first feature by David Lynch, who is one of my very favorite filmmakers ever. It's a long scene, so feel free to skip parts. Just don't skip the chicken part.

Eraserhead (1977) - Dinner scene:

I doubt this bony chicken filled you up. I guess you're still hungry. You're lucky. It's time for dessert. Pudding it is:

I wonder if you enjoyed your pudding. Here's another delicious scene worth remembering.

The vomit scene from Bad Taste(1987):

Believe it or not, but the bearded guy with glasses, is Peter Jackson who brought you The Lord of The Rings. Back at a time when he was having loads of fun acting in his own movies.

And to conclude with another cult movie from the mid 80s, here's a trailer of The Stuff:

Hope you enjoyed this post one way or another.

What titles come to mind if you think of food movies? I challenge you to find a title that I haven't seen!
