Welcome to day 3 of my experiment. Let's see how long I can keep this up. You can find part 1 and 2 on my blog page, if you got time more time to spare. Or just start here. Whatever you feel like. I just hope that following the process of my search for consistency - and my findings - might benefit you too one way or another.
Yesterday, I mainly rambled on about the title of this post, about the movie Dr. Strangelove and then I got to talk about the legendary Stanley Kubrick. Believe me if I say I could probably spend a couple of posts on that guy and his oeuvre. I won't for now but, if you would really, really like me to do so, just ask and I might do so in the near future.
In yesterday's post, I mentioned that I could treat this consistency experiment as I would treat a diary.
"I could write about daily stuff mixed with some kind of stream of consciousness."
In the end I did not actually write about daily stuff, yesterday, but it definitely was a stream of consciousness that mainly tunneled into film talk. I liked the latter, as I am a film geek/ lover and occasional filmmaker.
Let's try to make this more of a diary today. Which makes working on this early afternoon - it's 12:34 right now - a little strange. There's still a lot of day left. Anyway, let's not overthink things too much. Overthinking is one of my weaknesses. I guess everything with over- in front of it is too much in a way.
CUT BACK TO DIARY FORM
Dear Steemit diary,
It's Monday today. The last Monday of the month. A rainy and windy monday.
Oh, here comes the film stuff again. Can't help it...
If you've seen The Shining - especially if you watched it as often as I have - you might remember how throughout the movie the days change with a cut, followed by the name of the day in CAPS with a kind of scary sound to back it up. That is what I had to think of after using the word Monday a couple of times in a row. That's how my (movie) mind works.
Here's a small clip - that I found just now - to demonstrate the former:
It is actually a transition to Tuesday. Sorry about that. If you haven't checked out The Shining yet, I would definitely advise you to do so later. It is one of my many favorite movies. I enjoy it every time I watch it. Even if I stumble upon The Shining, while browsing the TV's channels, it grabs my attention every time. I feel how I slowly get pulled into it, like the characters in the movie are being pulled into the evil world of the Overlook Hotel.
You see, it pulled me in again. What was I talking about again?
Monday.
Right. It's Monday today and I told myself to spend plenty of time on Steemit. I feel it stresses me out way less than checking on my cryptocurrency portfolio and the little (most of my) money that I got invested in there. Behind me, my twin sister is working her 2D-illustrator skills on a cool little job assignment for a Dutch bread recycling company. Did you know that my sister designed my steemit logo/ banner months ago. I even wrote a post about that back then.
By the way, I am a person who isn't afraid of talking about his private life, so if you aren't already so, you better get used to that. I have been staying at my sister's place for quite a while now. Sleeping at a couch in her living room. In the meantime I am working on Steemit, while slowly prepping my future move to the mountainous north of Portugal. I already got a house and a plot of land in mind. A place I plan to visit in January. I'm planning to get an email out on that later today. If you're interested in the reasons behind that, here's an earlier post on why I plan to move to Portugal and what house and area I'm interested in. You still got time left, than here's a somewhat more positive follow up to post one:Moving to Portugal - Part 2
Alright, I know I could go on and on but I feel this is about enough for one day. Today I tried the diary format. Not sure what to think about it. But it definitely works as a way to be more consistent in my / your writing.
Let's enjoy the rest of the day and see what tomorrow brings. Goodbye for now!
TO BE CONTINUED
So what about you? Do you keep a diary? Do you mix your writing/ blogging with your passion? If not, how do you like the idea? Would you consider it? Let me know! I'm curious :>)
P.S. Here's one more clip from The Shining that entered my mind when thinking of keeping a diary. I felt like sharing it:
