Josette, and Miles Steem are my Sim Girl legacy challenge Sims. If you are not familiar with the challenge you can find it at Sims Legacy Challenge. This challenge is to basically, start your Sim out on a huge lot; with little to no money, and then play the household for 10 generations on this land. There are many stipulations, and rules for the challenge. You can find these rules by following the link.
Victoria Steem, my original legacy Sim, has finally reached her elder age. I started her as a young adult, married her to Jack before she reached adulthood, and then played her for a very long time as an adult.
When your Sims reach the elder stage of life, you will need to pay extra attention to them. Their need levels will fall faster, and they will require more rest. I try to keep their mood levels in the green. If you try and fill all the needs completely, the other levels will begin to fall, and it will be harder to get an elder Sim back to the green.
Elder Sims can now retire from their jobs. To do this, go into your Sim’s phone, and select the option to retire. They will then get a small daily payment based on their pay.
@snook and I were talking about Victoria, and she asked her age. When I looked I was surprised to discover Victoria was 102 years old!!!
She has lived a long life, had six children, and is about to become a grandmother.
I will be watching Victoria very closely, because of her age. Since Victoria spent a good deal of her life in adulthood, she is much older than she should be, when a Sim ages to the elder part of life.
I am not sure, how this will affect the elder stage game play. I’m thinking she could go at any time. I hope that is not the case. At any rate, it is time for me to go through her inventory, and try to keep her as happy as I can, for a long as I can.
When Victoria woke, she was complaining about her back hurting, from the bed being cheap. I feel she deserves a more comfortable bed for her later years.
The bed you buy your Sim, will depend on how much money you can spend. The most I can spend on a new bed for Victoria now, is $1390. When you are shopping for comfort, the more expensive the bed, the more comfort it will provide.
The bed description in the store, defines the energy, stress relief, and discomfort relief of each bed. The Sims that sleep in that bed, will feel the comfort, and relief that the bed provides, and get a better night’s sleep.
Josette is now in her 2nd trimester of her first pregnancy. Like the elder Sims, pregnant Sims will need to balance their needs, to stay in a happy mood. Both Josette, and Victoria will be keeping odd hours, because their needs must be alternated throughout the day.
Jackie’s first attempt at cooking did not go very well.
Fires can happen any time the Sims cook. Even experienced cooks can catch themselves on fire. Fireplaces will also burst into flames. Your Sims, will need to have a smoke detector in the house, which will alert the entire household of the emergency.
When you do have a fire, you can select the source of the fire, and then click on the extinguish option.
Everyone in the household will be very tense because of the fire. If the fire is not put out, the fire will spread and do more damage. This often happens when you reduce your household funds, lower than the price to replace the item.
It is better to have your Sims learn cooking by watching the cooking channel, before they attempt to cook for the first time. You can have them make salad, or a meal that won’t require using the stove.
Victoria, Franny, and Miles had a good plan to evacuate the threat, by following the route of safety. The tense buff, from the fire, will last for the next 24 hours.
To cheer Victoria after the fire, I sent her inside to play a game of chess. The levels of Victoria’s needs, are balanced in her old age, and what I strive to achieve, while playing my elder Sim’s in Sims 4.
I will alternate meeting each of Victoria’s needs throughout the day, and night to be sure she stays in the green. Unfortunately, no matter how well you tend to your Sims, eventually they must die. Knowing this, you can take steps to reach their life time goal, or give them the chance to spend relaxing.
@snook suggested dressing my elders in comfortable clothing and shoes. The more you can do to keep their needs balanced, the better the elder stage will be for your Sim.
Victoria did not get to finish grafting the plants in her inventory, but she had time to capture her later years in photos, and pass on her knowledge to the other Sims in her life. Elder Sims are full of a lifetime of knowledge, and can give advice, or cooking tips, like she is giving the butler.
Victoria still has time to spend with her family in her elder age. When parents help children with their school projects, the child will get the project done faster, and will get better grades in school.
While I was playing the Sims 4 today, I received the honorary Simguru achievement. This achievement is given to the player, after they have played the Sims 4 for 100 hours. Seems about right since Victoria is now 103 years old.
I hope you have learned a little more about playing the Sims 4 game, and how to prepare for your Sim’s retirement, in the elder stage of their life. When your Sim ages to their elder years, you will need to decide what will happen to the Sim’s belongings after they die. If you do no have anyone else in the household to continue the family, your game will be over.
Until next time,
Happy Gaming- Sim Girl
