Chapter V - Dreamcatcher
Disabled
When she entered her house, Mindy always saw the photos that she had of her father placed in the living room, she remembered that when he returned from the island, despite his advanced age, he could still go out for walks in the park, but then after a few months his health deteriorated until finally he was lame duck and it was impossible for him to do his usual walks.
From that moment on, his disability made his feel immense sadness, he did not explain the final reason for it, trying to encourage him, he always answered evasively.
(End of 5 minutes)
Most of his time when he was at home, he spent writing in a personal journal, never sharing his notes with anyone, keeping what he wrote secret.
Mindy was always curious to know what it contained, but he was always jealous that she didn't touch it. After finishing writing he always kept it in his room in a locked box.
When dying with the sadness that she had, she had not been able until now to go and check the contents of the box out of respect for her father. Maybe if she had done it before, she would have known about the existence of her half sister and the kind of life he had.
Now that the surprise of her half sister Angeline had appeared, the mysteries that always came to her mind of that rude man who was her father were beginning to unravel.
Like every day, now she had to prepare her agenda for the next day, leave everything prepared, like the food she would take for lunch in her job as a promoter. A new activity had been added to his daily life, his afternoon meeting with Angeline, one of the things that she had not yet clarified was how it was that she had traveled and how it had been possible to locate her. She also had no idea what she was working on, her means of subsistence and for how many days she was going to stay in the city.
Stay
Angeline still had no idea how many days she would spend in that city, she had a modest budget, so she had to always be measuring her expenses and not acquire useless things. She was struck by the variety of products offered in stores, many of them considered useless and rather she saw that people wasted their money by purchasing them. In supermarkets he realized that in many of them fresh vegetables and fruits were not offered but that everything was frozen.
Since a small refrigerator was available to her in the hotel room and she had been given access to a shared kitchen, she made her own meals in order to save money and not eat in restaurants that would be expensive. Even so, it was difficult for her to get some of the products that were normally obtained on the island.
That is why time flew by since he had many things to discover in the city, there one of the places that he had most loved was the central market, since there came trucks with products from all over the country and these were They distributed to smaller stores throughout the city.
The maritime port also enchanted it, where ships from all over the world are received and especially the area where a cruise ship always docks. There he remembered the times that his father described that place to him, he saw it as a place where the activity did not end, where there was always something to do during the twenty-four hours of the day.
The charm of the place now explained to her why her father was sometimes nostalgic and did not want to speak anything, only that he locked himself in his room. One day she surprised him by writing a personal diary, in a book that, being handwritten, was not able to interpret what he said there, she tried to read it one day that he had gone out to speak with his friends from the port and left on the table. That day she took it in his hands carefully, she was leafing through the leaves, at that moment his heart began to beat strongly, since he sensed that what he was doing was not right. After a few minutes he left him the way he had found him and his father at that time did not notice his mischief.
Farewell
When her father left the island, packed his luggage and personal items in two large suitcases and a handbag, a long journey awaited him, he already had the feeling that he would not return to the island, his companion Mary had died and by the years that had passed, he had already paid off her debt to justice, nothing at that time prevented her from returning but only the love of her daughter Angeline. Despite this, with a pain in his soul, he decided to take the route of return.
At that time, he told her, that in case he stopped communicating with her, he asked her to promise that she would meet her sister Mindy, only that he said:
"Angeline,
Mindy, she doesn't know anything about what my life has been here, nor does she know that you exist,
I know that it was not good on my part, but because of the distance and the respect and affection that her mother had for me so far I haven't told her anything "
After her father finally boarded the boat, sadness began to take its toll, she returned home alone, there the garden roses gave her joy in the afternoon, after opening the door, the dreamcatcher shuddered. they had, at that moment she could not bear crying anymore, she went to the kitchen to look in the refrigerator for a glass of water. Everything reminded her of that rude man who was her father, in her mind she did not understand why he had left her alone.
After separating from her husband due to the problems she had in her marriage, she had returned to her home shortly before her mother died. This helped her overcome the trauma she had. Even she had no children, so being alone in that house stunned her and the loneliness began to notice her when she heard only the creaking of the walls.
The day after her father left the island, like every day she began to clean the house, so when she entered her father's room, without his presence, she felt a chill since at that moment she He realized that his promise that he would return was not real, since his advanced age would prevent it and the fact that the return trip would be very long.
At that time she remembered, as he worked at the table in that room writing in his personal diary, he never detailed anything of what he wrote there, so for her this was always a mystery. Some of his personal belongings still remained in the wardrobe in the room. She then, curious to review it, began to find that he had some documents, bank statements and family photos stored. Also had some maritime history books and navigation maps. One object that caught his attention was a sextant, with which he interpreted the position in the sky and the passage of the stars. When searching further, she had the feeling of finding her father's personal diary, however, Although she check the closet completely, it was not there.
Now that she had met Mindy and her father was deceased, she wanted to have the opportunity to ask Mindy, if she knew of the existence of her father's personal diary, she felt that she had to deal with it with great tact, since there was not enough trust between them, this could be misinterpreted.
