There are many series that come to claim a different content or simply to create their own space. When I decided to watch this series the first thing I knew is that it was originally from Sweden so I had my considerations before starting to watch it, first of all because a few weeks ago I could see the first movie or content produced in that country in my life, it was Dancing Queens a failed film about Drag Queens that did not live up to its name with its cold performances.
That's why I didn't think it was convenient to watch again something coming from that country however I gave it a chance because of its LGBTIQ+ theme and above all because the media labeled it as the new Elite or the new The Crown the jewel in the crown on Netflix but the reality hasn't been further from that. So with very little desire I embarked on another high school story, in which I expected to find a series of perfect characters, sex, drugs and many existential problems, above all I was ready to witness another crime and spend the whole season guessing the killer.
But what I have found is a story that comes to vindicate at least in my world, the content made in Sweden and above all to introduce a lot of new faces that were previously perfect strangers. Another thing that caught my attention is the presence of another Venezuelan in the cast list, Netflix repeats again a Venezuelan as the main couple and this time also in a very gay story as in Halston.
But I'm not going to tell you more I just hope you enjoy this review as much as I enjoyed doing it.

Hay muchas series que llegan para reivindicar un contenido diferente o simplemente para crear su propio espacio. Cuando decid铆 ver esta serie lo primero que supe es que era originaria de Suecia por lo que tuve mis consideraciones antes de comenzar a verla, ,en primer lugar porque hace pocas semanas pude ver la primera pel铆cula o contenido producido en ese pa铆s en mi vida, se trata de Dancing Queens una pel铆cula fallida sobre Drag Queens que no le hizo honor a su nombre con sus fr铆as actuaciones.
Por eso no cre铆a conveniente volver a ver algo proveniente de ese pa铆s sin embargo le di una oportunidad por su tem谩tica LGBTIQ+ y sobretodo porque los medios la tachaban de ser la nueva Elite o la nueva The Crown la joya de la corona en Netflix pero no ha estado m谩s alejada de eso la realidad. As铆 que con muy pocas ganas me embarque en otra historia de instituto, en la que esperaba encontrarme con una serie de personajes perfectos, sexo, drogas y muchos problemas existenciales, sobre todo estaba listo para presenciar otro crimen y pasar toda la temporada adivinando al asesino.
Pero lo que me he encontrado es una historia que viene a reivindicar al menos en mi mundo, el contenido hecho en Suecia y sobre todo dar a conocer a un mont贸n de caras nuevas que antes eran perfectos desconocidos. Otra cosa que me llamo la atenci贸n es la presencia de otro venezolano en la lista de actores del elenco, Netflix vuelve a repetir a un venezolano como pareja principal y esta vez tambi茅n en una historia muy homosexual como en Halston.
Pero no les voy a adelantar mas solo espero que disfruten esta rese帽a tanto como yo disfrute al hacerla.

Young Royals is a series produced by the company Nexiko for the streaming service Netflix, is directed, written and produced by Erika Calmeyer, Rojda Sekers枚z, Lisa Ambj枚rn, Sofie Forsman, Tove Forsman and Lars Beckung respectively. It has a total of 6 episodes and a season that premiered last July 1st and starred Edvin Ryding, Samuel Astor, Omar Rudberg, Malte G氓rdinger, Frida Argento, Nikita Uggla and Pernilla August.

Cuenta con un total de 6 cap铆tulos y con una temporada estrenada el pasado 1 de Julio la cual fue estelarizada por figuras como Edvin Ryding, Samuel Astor, Omar Rudberg, Malte G氓rdinger, Frida Argento, Nikita Uggla y Pernilla August.

Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding) is a Swedish prince who is always in trouble, so when he gets involved in a fight in a club, his parents, the king and queen of Sweden, decide it is best for him to go to a luxurious boarding school named Hillerska, where his older brother Erik (Ivar Forsling) was. He at first refuses to leave, but will have no choice but to pack up and leave town.
When he finally arrives, he realizes that his cousin August (Malte G氓rdinger), is the one who rules the high school students and is in charge of the Forest Ridge House residence, a kind of lodge formed in the vicinity of the boarding school, who is also determined to teach Wilhelm what he must do to survive inside Hillerska. He, along with his classmates will be in charge of throwing an initiation party for his cousin. August realizes that a non-resident student, Simon (Omar Rudberg) could get alcohol for the party so he uses him to get it in exchange for money. Despite the fact that Simon and his sister Sara (Frida Argento) do not belong to the elite of society nor have money, thanks to that favor they get invited to the party something almost impossible to get for freshmen.
From the moment Wilhelm arrives at the institute he is instantly attracted to Simon who is an accomplished chorister in the school choir, and begins to get close to him, sitting next to him at lunchtime to the disapproving gaze of his cousin who despises outsiders.
Simon and Sara live with his mother, but he visits his hapless father whenever he can, and goes to him to get the booze for the party. He also steals his father's meds and sells them to August who is addicted to painkillers. Also within the series we meet Felice (Nikita Uggla), a girl whom her mother does not accept and who aspires to marry royalty; the second cousin status of August who is her eternal crush is not enough for her, especially with Prince Wilhelm at boarding school.
Meanwhile Wilhelm and Simon live a very innocent romance that fails to move forward because Wilhelm's brother Erick dies suddenly in a traffic accident, the prince's life changes drastically as he is the first to succeed his mother as King someday. After returning after the death of his brother who was his guide, he decides it's time to behave himself, and tries to push Simon away as much as he can, but will he be able to overcome love?

Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding) es un pr铆ncipe sueco que siempre est谩 en aprietos es por eso que cuando se ve involucrado en una pelea en un club, sus padres, el rey y la reina de Suecia, deciden que lo mejor es que vaya a un lujoso internado de Hillerska, donde fue su hermano mayor Erik (Ivar Forsling). 脡l al principio reh煤sa a irse, pero no tendr谩 otra opci贸n que empacar e irse de la ciudad.
Cuando por fin llega, se da cuenta que su primo August (Malte G氓rdinger), es el que gobierna a los alumnos del instituto y est谩 a cargo de la residencia Forest Ridge House una especie de logia formada en las inmediaciones del internado, quien adem谩s esta decido a ense帽arle a Wilhelm lo que debe hacer para sobrevivir dentro de Hillerska. El, junto sus compa帽eros se encargaran de hacer una fiesta de iniciaci贸n para su primo. August se da cuenta que un estudiante no residente, Simon (Omar Rudberg) podr铆a conseguir alcohol para la fiesta as铆 que lo usa para conseguirlo a cambio de dinero. A pesar de que Sim贸n y su hermana Sara (Frida Argento) no pertenecen a la elite de la sociedad ni tienen dinero, gracias a ese favor consiguen ser invitados a la fiesta algo casi imposible de conseguir para los de primer a帽o.
Desde que Wilhelm llega al instituto se siente instant谩neamente atra铆do por Simon quien es un corista consumado en el coro escolar, y comienza a acercarse a 茅l, sent谩ndose a su lado en la hora del almuerzo ante la mirada de desaprobaci贸n de su primo quien desprecia a los alumnos externos.
Sim贸n y Sara viven con su madre, pero 茅l visita cada que puede a su desdichado padre, y acude a 茅l para conseguir la bebida para la fiesta. Tambi茅n le roba a su padre sus medicinas y las vende a August quien es adicto a los calmantes. Tambi茅n dentro de la serie conocemos a Felice (Nikita Uggla), una chica a quien su madre no acepta y que aspira a casarse con un miembro de la realeza; el estatus de primo segundo de August quien es su eterno enamorado no es suficiente para ella, especialmente con el pr铆ncipe Wilhelm en el internado.
Mientras tanto Wilhelm y Simon viven un romance muy inocente que no logra avanzar debido a que Erick el hermano de Wilhelm muere repentinamente en un accidente de tr谩nsito, la vida del pr铆ncipe cambia dr谩sticamente al ser el primero en suceder a su madre como Rey alg煤n d铆a. Tras regresar despu茅s de la muerte de su hermano quien era su gu铆a, decide que es hora de portarse bien, e intenta alejar a Simon lo m谩s que puede pero 驴lograra vencer el amor?.

At first glance, Young Royals doesn't promise anything new and the series, created by Lisa Ambj枚rn, Lars Beckung and Camilla Holter, looks like another clich茅 teen series we are used to, like Elite where a group of privileged students do things that their parents wouldn't approve of and that most of us would never do except that in this series all the characters are teenagers played by teenagers.
And to be clear there is nothing in the first episode to tell us otherwise either. Wilhelm seems like a normal former Prince Harry of England type young man a young man who constantly gets into trouble because he's not sure who he is or what he wants to be. But thank heavens he doesn't stay there, on the contrary he becomes more interesting as the series progresses, dealing with not implausible topics that make it move away from Elite, which in my opinion has nothing similar to it.
The young people in this series are described as normal beings not perfect and that was the first thing I noticed, seeing the Prince of a nation with acne was incredible because as a society we tend to dehumanize famous people. Here there is not enough makeup and all the characters live with their imperfections peacefully, that message in today's world where physique is so important got me from minute 1.

A primera vista, J贸venes Altezas no promete nada nuevo y es que la serie, creada por Lisa Ambj枚rn, Lars Beckung y Camilla Holter, parece otra serie juvenil clich茅 de esas a la que estamos acostumbrados, como Elite donde un grupo de estudiantes privilegiados hacen cosas que sus padres no aprobar铆an y que la mayor铆a de nosotros no har铆amos nunca solo que en esta serie todos los personajes son adolescentes son interpretados por adolescentes.
Y para ser claros tampoco hay nada en el primer episodio que nos diga lo contrario. Wilhelm parece un joven normal tipo el ex pr铆ncipe Harry de Inglaterra un joven que constantemente se mete en problemas porque no est谩 seguro de qui茅n es o que quiere ser. Pero gracias al cielo no queda ah铆 por el contrario se hace m谩s interesante a medida que avanza la serie tratando temas nada inveros铆miles que la hacen alejarse de Elite con la cual a mi parecer no tiene nada de parecido.
Los j贸venes en esta serie son descritos como seres normales no perfectos y eso fue lo primero que not茅, ver al Pr铆ncipe de una naci贸n con acn茅 fue incre铆ble porque como sociedad solemos deshumanizar a la gente famosa. Aqu铆 no hay suficiente maquillaje y todos los personajes viven con sus imperfecciones tranquilamente, ese mensaje en un mundo actual donde el f铆sico es tan importante me atrap贸 desde el minuto 1.
Although there is also a problem with the Swedes that makes it hard for me to connect with their characters but that feeling fades as the series progresses. I really appreciated the relationship that the brothers Erik and Wilhelm have and it reminded me that the role of the older brothers is to guide the younger ones. The rest of the characters that make up this story, except for Simon and Sara, seem to be typical teen characters in teen series with the difference that in Young Royals there is no filler, it is a completely rounded story.
Wilhelm played by Edvin Ryding seemed to me an extremely interesting character, very current and at the same time reminded me of those young people from the movies and series of the 80's and 90's, I liked his connection with the camera, he manages to transmit a lot.
On the other hand there is Felice played by Nikita Uggla, a black and fat girl who I loved and I did not expect to see in a Swedish series, is a very particular character on the one hand for wanting to go after a member of royalty excluding all others and at the same time fighting against the demands of a perfectionist mother.
But if we talk about villains all the hate is for August played by Malte G氓rdinger who seems to be the typical stalker present in all this type of series and youth films. With a sense of fashion and perfection seems to be too much even for a rich boarding school like this, he walks and talks like he is important even though he is not, his character seems misguided and unnecessarily mean to the people he thinks are beneath him, this actor's work is very good.
Simon and Sara played by the Gorgeous Omar Rudberg and Frida Argento are the only exceptions because they are characters that have a backstory; their mother speaks to them in Spanish at home and they are not privileged in the least. Sara suffers from Asperger's syndrome, and is the other villain of the series with a selfish role that only thinks of herself.
Aunque tambi茅n hay un problema en los suecos que me hace dif铆cil conectarme con sus personajes pero esa sensaci贸n se va diluyendo a medida que la serie avanza. Aprecie mucho la relaci贸n que tienen los hermanos Erik y Wilhelm me hizo recordar que el papel que ejercemos los hermanos mayores es de gu铆a para los menores. El resto de los personajes que conforman esta historia, excepto por Sim贸n y Sara, parecen ser los t铆picos personajes adolescentes de las series de adolescentes con la diferencia que en J贸venes Altezas no hay ning煤n relleno, es una historia completamente redonda.
Wilhelm interpretado por Edvin Ryding me pareci贸 un personaje sumamente interesante, muy actual y al mismo tiempo me record贸 a aquellos j贸venes de las pel铆culas y series de los 80鈥檚 y 90鈥檚, me gusto su conexi贸n con la c谩mara logra transmitir much铆simo.
Por otra parte esta Felice interpretada por Nikita Uggla, una chica negra y gorda a la que am茅 y que no esperaba ver en una serie sueca, es un personaje bastante particular por un lado por querer ir detr谩s de un miembro de la realeza excluyendo a todos los dem谩s y al mismo tiempo luchando contra las exigencias de una mama perfeccionista.
Pero si hablamos de villanos todo el odio es para August interpretado por Malte G氓rdinger quien parece ser el t铆pico acosador presente en todo este tipo de series y pel铆culas juveniles. Con un sentido de la moda y perfecci贸n parece ser demasiado incluso para un internado de ricos como este, camina y habla como si fuera importante aunque no lo sea, su personaje parece descarriado e innecesariamente malo con la gente que cree que est谩 por debajo de 茅l, el trabajo de este actor es muy bueno.
Sim贸n y Sara interpretados por el hermoso paisano Omar Rudberg y Frida Argento son las 煤nicas excepciones porque son personajes que tienen una historia de fondo; su madre les habla en espa帽ol en casa y no son privilegiados en lo m谩s m铆nimo. Sara sufre del s铆ndrome de Asperger, y es la otra villana de la serie con un papel ego铆sta que solo piensa en ella.
But what I enjoyed most was the chemistry between Wilhelm and Simon, how it becomes an innocent and unforced love, how it is explored and how Wilhelm's real responsibilities are tested, is what really makes Young Royals stand out. However, there were still many things missing such as the punishment to August for exposing a video where the prince is seen kissing Simon, and other more issues that I refuse to explain to you because I want you to watch the series.
Because it is different, natural, very tender and above all because it describes with simplicity another facet of the gay community. I recommend it and I hope you like it, I give it an 8/10.
Pero lo que m谩s disfrut茅 fue la qu铆mica entre Wilhelm y Simon, como se convierte en un amor inocente y no forzado, c贸mo se explora y c贸mo se pone a prueba las responsabilidades reales de Wilhelm, es lo que realmente hace que J贸venes Altezas destaque. Sin embargo, todav铆a faltaron muchas cosas por verse como el castigo a August por haber expuesto un video donde se ve al pr铆ncipe bes谩ndose con Simon, y otros temas m谩s que me niego a explicarles porque quiero que vean la serie.
Porque es diferente, natural, muy tierna y sobretodo porque describe con mucha sencillez otra faceta la comunidad gay. Yo se las recomiendo y espero que les guste, le doy un 8/10.
