Hello hivers and players of Splinterlands,
Splinterlands was my first decentralized game I played on Hive.
It's been a little over 14 months (14 months and 3 days to be exact) since I bought the starter set and started my Splinterlands adventure.
Every month I write a report in which I consider Splinterlands only as an investment and completely leave out the game aspect.

I hope that my reports will be useful to those who are thinking of registering on Splinterlands and want to have an idea of what Splinterlands has offered in the past to its players and also what it can offer now.

Note: In the numbers in this report, the comma "," and the dot "." are both decimal separators.

Previous Report Result

The starting point to analyze Splinterlands from a purely economic point of view is the result that I obtained and that I published in the previous month's report.
As you can see from the following image in 13 months I obtained a total profit of 316,13 $ and a ROI of 113,41 %.

The total investment that allowed me to achieve these results was $278,76.

Valuation of Splinterlands as an investment

To evaluate any investment you need to compare costs and revenues.
Below I will calculate the total costs I have incurred and the total revenue I have earned to date.

Total Cost of Investment

The total cost of my investment on Splinterlands is given by the following sum:

Subscription Cost (Starter Set - $10) + Total Cost of Cards Purchased + Total Cost of DECs Purchased + Total Cost of Plots Purchased.

Since the date of my last report (November 21, 2020) and through today, December 21, 2020, I have not made any card sales or purchases.
I have not bought or sold any DEC tokens and have not purchased any additional Plots.
This month, however, I have decided to optimize my card collection:

I will sell the cards that I do not use in battle
I will buy cards useful in battle and with a good conversion value in DEC in order to increase my Power Score.

As I have not continued to invest in the last 30 days the total cost of my investment on Splinterlands remains unchanged from the previous month and is 278.76 $.

I will now calculate the revenue.

Revenues

In general on Splinterlands the revenues consist of:

the market value of the Cards
the value obtained from the sale of the cards
the value of the DEC (Dark Energy Crystal) tokens accumulated.
the value obtained from the sale of DEC tokens.
the market value of the purchased Plots.
The value obtained from the sale of the Plots.

How much are my cards worth?

To find out the total dollar value of my card collection I always use the Peakmonsters site (https://peakmonsters.com/@libertycrypto27/collection).
The Collection section of the PeakMonsters Site makes the calculation much easier and faster.

To calculate the value of my card collection I always take in consideration the lesser of:

the total value using Market Prices.
the total value using the List Prices.

Last month my card collection had a value of 497,36 $.

Today my card collection has a value of 483,35 $.

My card collection has lost some value since 30 days ago (-$14,01).

How much are the DEC tokens I have on my wallet worth?

DEC are the Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs) in the Splinterlands game.
For every battle you win, you receive a certain amount of DECs as a reward.
Thanks to battles won, rewards obtained from completing daily quests, and rewards received at the end of Splinterlands seasons I have a total of 19635 DEC tokens on my wallet.

The equivalent $ value of the amount of 19635 DECs is $15.52

Revenues from the sale of DEC tokens on Hive Engine

On October 5, I sold 81000 DECs on the Hive Engine marketplace and received 400.14 HIVE in return for a value at the time of sale of $64.8.

How much are my Plots worth?

On November 21, 2020, thanks to the intermediation of @poliwalt10 whom I thank again and publicly here, I purchased 3 Plots at a price of 7500 DEC each for a total cost of 22500 DEC whose $ value at the time of purchase was 19.66 $.

To calculate the total value of the Plots in my possession I consider the value of the best purchase offer on https://leodex.io/market/PLOT

As you can see from the image above the total value of the Plots in my possession is 70 HIVE * 3 plots = 210 HIVE = 26,25 $.

Now I have all the necessary data (Costs and Revenues) to calculate the eventual profit or loss.

As you can see from the calculations in the following image my profit after 14 months on Splinterlands is 311,16 $

ROI

( Return On Investment )

The ROI I have achieved in 14 months is 111.62%.

Final Considerations

In 14 months I have made a profit of 311.16 $.

The profit decreases by just under 5$ (-4.97$) from the total profit recorded in the previous report which was 316.13$.

The ROI achieved after 14 months is 111.62%.

ROI, like profit, decreases and the decrease is about 2 percentage points compared to the ROI in the previous report which was 113.41 %.

Even though there was a small decrease in ROI and Profit this month the financial result I have achieved so far is still very good.

I am always satisfied with my investment in Splinterlands and my only regret is that I did not register sooner.

Below you can see the month by month history of my investment on Splinterlands related to ROI and Profit that I have obtained.

The trend of ROI from the 6th month onwards is as follows:

ROI after 7 months: 77,02 %

The trend in PROFIT from the sixth month onwards is as follows:

Considerations of previous months' results

The profit in the eighth month went down because some players put on sale a large number of cards at very low prices and consequently there was a general decrease in the value of many cards especially from the Beta collection. My collection is mostly composed of cards from the Beta collection.

In the ninth month the prices of the cards started to increase again and the value of my card collection increased, with the consequent increase in the value of ROI and Profit.

In the 10th month my card collection increased in value but the cost to purchase the DICE packs was higher and therefore both ROI and Profit decreased by almost half from the 9th month.

In the 11th month the changes introduced by Collection Power prompted many players to invest in purchasing cards in order to increase their Power score and advance in the more advanced game leagues.

In the twelfth month, cards increased in value and at the same time DECs also increased in value.
The profit in the twelfth month (307,279 $) grew a lot and just over double the total profit recorded in the previous month (149,437 $).
A truly exceptional result.

In the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Months the Roi and profit declined slightly due to a decrease in the value of DEC tokens and a slight drop in card prices especially for the Beta collection cards.

But, beyond the financial results, my main satisfaction for having chosen to invest in Splinterlands is that the excellent profit I've obtained so far I've obtained it in the most beautiful way possible: playing!
