Dear steemians,

As you might have realized, I decided to not go to the steemit meetup in Munich* with my friend @manncpt neither with @reconnectnature who offered gently to join him in car for the trip. This for several reasons, some obvious, some probably less visible. Indeed, I did not find help in time to take in charge the student while traveling to Munich. Also, I realized that I could not really afford it. Even if I planned to eventually make it possible by posting about a self-challenge that I still want to realize when I will have the time “How I used only steem to travel and live for a week” and for which you can find the draft on google drive on simple request. I needed to be pragmatic and check on the priority. Being there for the last days of the participant of the first cycle of the @globalschool and be sure they are enjoying or even make a small impact useful for their future.

On the side of this, these last days, I am talking with Wolfgang on which steps to make next about “the platform”, the last iteration of a project we initiated some years ago with some friends under the name of the “Idea factory”. I would like to show my commitment in making this project happening. However, my situation for the moment is little bit complicated and I really have difficulties to make the @globalschool a reality of everyday without suffering a bit in my budget. The last award received for an application at the AWS related to the Global School will only be accessible end of March if not later.

So, for this commitment, I need to find new supporters as I can’t really afford to take time for this while I am already volunteering 30 hours a week with the global school participants. However, I do this by choice, or conviction and try to join the sides. This is why I am taking the initiative to publish this new serie of posts about the “Idea Factory”. To involve you and invite you to become an active supporter or a contributor for this social project to take steps.

March is approaching fast! Next month as planned for a little while with my good friend, social business partner @wolfgangsieberth, co-founder of @generationeuropa and co-initiator of the @globalschool, and with the help notably of my friend @manncpt, we are planning to launch a first autonomous place project based on blockchain.

To start as we raised the budget for the caution and the rent as well as a small budget for the installation and limited resources, we will have only the space with a simple offer for renting a spot in the coworking space or in the guest-house. Faithfully with the help of new contributors such as developers, people able to communicate well about the project and active supporters we will faster able to implement the next steps by including the tools that allow this automation and use the blockchain.

Goals

Have a space to host regularly the #globalschool workshops and contributors;
host volunteers, project developers, digital nomads or creatives in residence;
offer hosting for travelers and supporters to become social impact investors;
allow the space to be accessible as the modern car-rental services via unlocking via a phone app;
make possible to use the blockchain for example steem dollars to consume/exchange services and goods within the space as well as to make creative report to share on steemit or dtube by using the app which will also be available via tablets in the space.

The spaces

Based on the Idea Factory project (itself based on the Idea Machine Wien, as a transitional project to build the technology of collective computer for cities IDM, ...soon more info published by @globalschool), the idea of an autonomous place build up progressively while developing cooperation with various spaces in Vienna such as the Nuu Gallery managed by the exceptional Denise Narick, Prosa School, the wonderful project of free school providing help for refugees or Co-space led by the brilliant business developer Georg Demmer.

Led and initiated by Christoph Mann (@manncpt), the HugInnVienna and its proven track record of guests serves as a proof of concept for the future project of guest house which will be located in the autonomous space.

The platform

Lets make together places to share our experiences our online experiences offline!

In October, a friend told us about the possibility to rent her flat as she was leaving it after some years, we could maybe have it after her contract for the same conditions. We contacted the owner, we should have a final response end of the month!

As we want to be sure to launch this project we are still looking for places in Vienna, we found another 180 sq meters flat with a big room for workshops, a nice living room close by as well as 4 big bedrooms which would allow to host big groups of students, but it seems that the 20th district where the place is located is probably not the most practical for the target group we thought. So we are still searching actively, and we will keep you informed on our findings! Maybe you can help us to select ;-)

The software

End of November with the cooperation of a group of 7 IT students coming from Hungary and participating to the @globalschool, we started to make further researches on how to automatize the space and build an open source app that we could use as a keylogger to enable the members of the community to use their smartphone to open the co-working space and the guest house rooms as well as trigger to activate a serie of services.

In some days with the students, exploring the pro and con of the system in the coworking we were hosted works and making some researches we found some possibilities using the Android API, collected the info and made a small presentation as well as generated the coworking building in 3d as well as starting to generate the #HugInnVienna with the idea to make usable for a next group of contributors who would like to continue these projects with us in the future.

My friends and colleagues are still little bit sceptical with the idea to publish these ideas on the steemit platform. However, I believe that we can find some help here and real people interested to develop this project. By externalizing and communicating, maybe it is possible to engage some active contributors to make the project better that we could with our limited resources and personal constraints. If together we can demonstrate that is possible to cooperate to co-create a first open source autonomous place based on blockchain with the participation of local and remote contributors, we might have a great activity to develop further!

Next steps

Invite the active creative community with whom I am already enjoying to contribute to join the creation of the offline platform based on steem (open to other crypto too).
Contact all the partners of @generationeuropa and ask them if they would support the project by pre-booking the space for their future camps and workshops venue and accommodation.
Get the space and get an accreditation to host volunteers with @generationeuropa
Involve as many steemian as possible by asking them to upvote, resteem and talk about the project around them to find new supporters and contributors!
Publish regularly the backstory of the project on @globalschool to raise more awareness about this project, Idea Machine, Idea Factory and iAme!
