OpenMic Night Contest: Be a star - an original song

openmicweek2.png

Here's my latest original song. I performed this at the pub last night, but managed to forget the last verse! I made a few mistakes on this video, but it took a few takes to get this far, so I left it as is.

I'm enjoying writing songs. I like playing with words and want to work on making the music side more interesting. I welcome any comments and suggestions.

Check out some of my other songs:

Be a star

Ed Sheeran sang about a Lego house, well I want a Lego car
It might fall to pieces on a bumpy road but I believe that I could go far
It would be electric cos that is greener. I'd only have to fill it up with windscreen cleaner

If a ginger guy with a small guitar
can be this big,
then maybe I can be a star

Did you like the song I wrote
The one about Ikea
It came to me whilst driving home
A bolt from the the blue, an idea
I made a little video and put it online
If 20 people like it then that's just fine

But if it goes viral in Chad or Qatar
And is seen by millions
Then maybe I can be a star

In this world of social media
Things just ain't the same
In a matter of seconds around the world
You can get your fifteen minutes of fame
But it’s a matter of chance if you make the world dance
From Timbuktoo to the south of France

Do a novelty song About Roseanne Barr
Or Nelly Furtado
And that could make me a star

Maybe I'm too old for this shit
Past my sell by date
I could give up my job and go on the road
Or maybe just trust to fate
But you know I just love to play this axe
So I'll keep up the job and pay my tax

And I'll keep on singing in this old bar
Doing it for kicks
And who cares if I become a star

I appreciate all your votes. If you are not already on Steemit then you may want to consider it as a way to profit from your content. Feel free to ask me about it.
