In all art forms, women/women's bodies are a favorite subject. Well, we're gorgeous :-) There will always be a fine line between objectifying and/or celebrating a woman's body in art, ads, the roles women play in movies.
Even as a woman, it confuses me at times. I've learned to perceive women in the same sexist ways as the rest of our society does. Like, did you know in one experiment researchers found that images of women's bodies are classified in the brain as 'things/objects', where men's bodies are classified in the brain as 'people'? Or that women are often seen as separate body parts, and men as a whole?
It has taken me a lot of time to unlearn what I've learned thanks to (social) media, society, even family and friends. It will take way longer to make people who don't experience the negative side-effects to unlearn this.
I might write a blog about this in the future. For now I just wanted to celebrate these gorgeous women and the artists who portrayed them.
The women
[Face not necessary.]
[Fairytale gorgeousness.]
[Strong and bold]
[Damn, love her hair and stitched lips.]
And last but not least three women I've already posted about. I assume you didn't forget about the Funky Viking yet?
