As we traveled North on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State (in August 2019), we stopped at this beach, Kalaloch Beach 4. Here, I was able to get a better view of the Island I saw last time, when we were still further South. When I looked at the map, I discovered it is a place called Destruction Island.
Destruction Island was named by the Spanish who visited the area in 1775 and were attacked by the Indians who lived there. (And the British in 1787!) Additionally, the location of the island, and the fact it was often shrouded in fog often destroyed ships who could not see it.
Today, the island houses a lighthouse which was decomissioned in 2008 after over 100 years of service. The island itself is now part of the Quillayute Needles National Wildlife Refuge which is closed to the public.

Here are my pictures of this beautiful location, as seen from Kalaloch Beach 4.

I call this one my "Happy Little Rock" (thanks Bob Ross!), because it's just that sort of break in the canvas.

I grabbed a closer crop of just the lighthouse. With the sharpness not really acceptable now, I threw a texture filter onto it, making it more artistic and almost covering up the lack of sharpness at this distance. (The island is about 3 miles off the coast!)

I did take one more set of pictures at Ruby Beach, before we turned inland and the light faded.
