Approximately twenty kilometers east of the city of Agios Nikolaos is located one of the historical sights of the island of Crete is the ancient Minoan town of Gournia.
Like most other buildings of the island of the times of the Minoan civilization, the city of Gurnia was completely destroyed by one of the most powerful earthquakes of the time.
A large area of the city is occupied by houses united in blocks.
To understand what and where is, everywhere are set boards with a description.
In the center of the city on the hill there was a palace.
The ancient artifact in the palace is a statuette.
From the palace on the hill offers a beautiful view of the Cretan Sea.
So, if you intend to visit the island of Crete, do not forget about the ancient city of Gournia.
My previous posts about the island of Crete: Agios Nikolaos, Vai Beach, Touplou Monastery.
