Pahkla Boulderstone

This is the third and the last part of the trip I took with some friends on 22nd April. The last place we went( Tuhala Witch's Well ) should have been the last destination we had planned to visit but we still had loads of daylight and I didn't felt like going home just yet. So I analyzed Google Maps for some time and saw there is Pahkla Boulderstone nearby. I have been there several times before but others don't so it should be cool for them to see.

This place was not far from the last place we were, about 10 kilometers and the massive stone is located in a middle of the forest. This means a little hike was required to reach there, no one had anything against a little walk, fortunately. When we were in the forest we could hear a total silence, the echo was amazing when screaming there( yea we did, we are a strange bunch of people).

There are stairs for assisting you to get up to the rock besides climbing it. Pahkla boulderstone is called "king of the stones" in Estonia even though it's not the largest one in the country. Rock dimensions: the circumference 29,5 meters, and height 4.4 meters. Stone traveled here from the Norway cliffs with ice movement during the ice age.

Looks so much smaller in the photo

There was also Mari's crying stone what we also visited. According to the legend, Mari once cried there and eventually she died and became a stone, so we cried hard there... Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the stone itself.

Nearby there are also some houses abandoned from the times soviet union was harassing Estonia. We decided to go and give this place a look as well. There was also a hill where I decided to climb on. I hoped to see some view but yeah, it wasn't high enough to see over the top of trees. Enjoy some photos!!
