Open daily from 7.30 am to 4.00 pm the Dalat Flower Park is a popular place for relaxing in the town centre. Dalat of course is known for, among other things, flower growing. The Dalat Flower Park is the culmination of all the amazing array of plowers that are grown in the region. The terrific 7,000 square metre (1.7 acre) site is one of the top attractions of the city and something of a must see. Originally called the Bich Cau Flower Garden it was hugely renovated and renamed. This is the largest collection of flowers in a city that is full of flowers. Once every year the Dalat Flower Festival is held and then there are many hundreds of species on view; roses, hydrangeas, mimosas, daffodils and lilies
Dalat Flower Park is also known as the Dalat Flower Garden and was established in 1966 and since then it has become extremely popular with the locals, Vietnamese tourists and tourists from oversees. There is a lot of the usual topiary in the gardens, the kitsch variety so popular in Asia. They are situated about a mile from the city centre near the Xuan Huong Lake. There are 300 species of flower here at any one given time. Because of Dalat’s cooler climate, species are brought in from Europe and thrive.
There is a small cafe on site where you can rest up and enjoy a cup of good coffee, something else that this region is well known for producing. The park entrance announces itself in spectacular fashion, with one huge arch and two smaller ones all made from thousands of plant pots. It is a delightful place to stroll round. There is also a cactus garden here, some of these are quite large and were imported from Africa.
Dalat Flower Park has been an important participator in the development of Dalat and is seen by many as the city’s number one attraction.
