I used to get bored stiff a lot when I was younger. I’d wrap myself around video games to escape the reality of which I lived in.
Learning has been difficult for me. School sucks our natural curiosity out of us during the best years of one's life, our formative years. Home-life was no better.
There wasn’t much that I’ve taken an interest in learning. Usually, I’ll give up pretty quickly - mind you, the night before I was like, ”This is the greatest thing! I’m going to get deep into it.” - You have had this very same experience, no?
I have a brother who is bored stiff playing his video games. He doesn’t want to face reality, only live in the escape these games have to offer. Sometimes, the things we like to do have no purpose in our life other than to distract us from the work that needs to be done.
Last year was full of distractions for me. I stopped learning as much as I was. I needed to unplug from the Libertarian’s point of view.
Have you listen to Leo Buscaglia’s The art of being fully human. In it he says, ” If you’re bored, you’re probably boring as hell.” I haven’t been bored in years!
