The Movies & TV shows community has launched a contest where you can talk about those action movies that have become your favorites over the years. That's why today I've put my hands to work to remember which are my favorites, why and how they made me feel. But since I like to do original things I've decided to approach the theme of the contest from a different perspective.
Action movies have been in my world for as long as I can remember. My dad loved them and although I've always been more of a fan of romantic comedies, I can't deny that I've seen a lot of action movies and I would even dare to say that I'm a big fan of the genre, although the same thing has happened with this one as with romantic comedies and in recent years they don't make such good productions anymore.
However, I have many beautiful memories of films by actors such as Jackie Chan who perfectly mixes martial arts with comedy, Sylverter Stallone and his unforgettable sequels in Rambo or Rocky, but if I were to mention actors who marked my childhood in this genre, the list would be at least formidable.
Names like Jean Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Keanu Reeves, in short, countless actors representative of action movies, would have to be on my list. However, I don't remember another one that has influenced my entertainment more than Bruce Lee, a legend in oriental movies and without a doubt one of my favorites.
La comunidad de Movies & TV shows ha lanzado un concurso dónde puedes hablar de esas películas de acción que se han convertido en tus favoritas a lo largo de los años. Es por ello que hoy he puesto manos a la obra para recordar cuáles son mis favoritas, por qué y cómo me hicieron sentir. Pero como me gusta hacer cosas originales he decidido abarcar el tema del concurso desde una perspectiva diferente.
Las películas de acción han estado en mi mundo desde que tengo uso de razón. Mi papá las amaba y aunque siempre he sido más fanático de las comedias románticas, no puedo negar que he visto muchísimas películas de acción y hasta me atrevería a decir que soy un gran fanático del género, aunque con este haya sucedido lo mismo que con las comedias románticas y en los últimos años ya no se hagan tan buenas producciones.
Sin embargo, tengo muchos recuerdos hermosos de películas de actores como por ejemplo Jackie Chan quien mezcla perfectamente las artes marciales con la comedia, Sylverter Stallone y sus inolvidables secuelas en Rambo o Rocky, pero si me pongo a mencionar actores que marcaron mi infancia en este género, la lista sería por lo menos formidable.

Undoubtedly The Terminator is a jewel of science fiction, but also of the purest action and a magnificent example of the cinema that was made in the last two decades of the last millennium.
The first installment of "The Terminator" was released in 1984 and was the actor's first box office success. Accompanied by a cast that included the likes of Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn, the film was a landmark at the time. However, if I couldn't leave governator (Arnold was governor of the state of California) I couldn't leave James Cameron behind either.
Cameron is a fantastic director in every sense of the word, but not only as a director has he excelled, he has also written several of his most memorable works. In The Terminator he was creator, writer and director and also a pioneer in the use of innovative special effects at the time. With The Terminator he achieved his first box office success and of course the much longed-for fame.
With a rather presumptuous story he managed to capture a huge fan base at a time when technology was just entering our society. Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) was a simple waitress who one day realizes that an exterminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from the apocalyptic year 2029 has been sent to kill her. Meanwhile Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) who has also been sent from the future is on a mission to protect Sarah.
The plot is wonderful, the machines will reveal themselves and start a war against humanity. The only salvation is in the hands of the Connors, who will have to be protected at all costs. In 1984 The Terminator was so successful that it launched Cameron's career to the top and also that of his actors.
Pero, no podía dejar de hablar de Arnold Schwarzenegger. Este actor nacido en Austria, pero naturalizado como estadounidense y que un principio fue fisiculturista y hasta logro ganar varias competiciones en el área, ha tenido una carrera brillante en el género de acción. Sin duda The Terminator es una joya de la ciencia ficción, pero también de la acción más pura y un ejemplo magnífico del cine que se hacía en las dos últimas décadas del milenio pasado.
La primera entrega de "The Terminator" se estrenó en 1984 y fue el primer éxito del actor en taquilla. Acompañado por un elenco que incluía a figuras como por Linda Hamilton y Michael Biehn, la película marcó un hito en aquella época. Sin embargo, si no podía dejar de mencionar a governator (Arnold fue gobernador del estado de California) tampoco podía dejar atrás a James Cameron.
Cameron es un director fantástico en todo el sentido de la palabra, pero no solo como director se ha destacado, sino que también ha escrito varias de sus obras más memorables. En The Terminator fue creador, escritor y director y también un pionero en el uso de efectos especiales innovadores en esa época. Con The Terminator consiguió su primer éxito en taquilla y por supuesto la tan añorada fama.
Con una historia bastante presuntuosa logró captar gran cantidad de fanáticos en una época dónde la tecnología apenas estaba accediendo a nuestra sociedad. Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) era una simple camarera que un buen día se da cuenta que un exterminador (Arnold Schwarzenegger) del apocalíptico año 2029 ha sido enviado con el propósito de matarla. Por su parte Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) quien también ha sido enviado del futuro tiene como misión proteger a Sarah.
El argumento es maravilloso, las máquinas se revelarán e iniciarán una guerra contra la humanidad. La única salvación está en las manos de los Connor, quienes tendrán que ser protegidos a toda costa. En 1984 The Terminator tuvo tanto éxito que lanzo la carrera de Cameron a lo más alto y también la de sus actores.
Cameron would go on to make many more films in his career including Aliens 2 (1986), Titanic (1997) and Avatar (2009) all with overwhelming success at the box office. However, his best film for me, is the continuation of the Terminator saga which I consider to be his best film. Terminator 2: Judgment Day, was everything I was waiting for after seeing the first installment.
Released in 1991, 7 years after the first movie of the franchise, it was relentless both in its story and its special effects. This time Sarah Connor, who had become pregnant, is confined in a sanatorium for the mentally ill. Her son John Connor (Edward Furlong) is a rebellious boy who lives in foster homes, is already 10 years old and thinks his mother is crazy.
A liquid metal killing machine perfected to kill called the T-1000 (Robert Patrick) is sent to assassinate John, while the T-800 a less advanced machine similar to the exterminator from the first film is sent to protect Connor. Again the same plot, but this time more substantial, they say that second parts are bad, but here is the exception.
The second installment of "The Terminator" does wonders with the original plot, everything is made more brilliant, innovative and the result is incredible. The special effects are magnificent for the time, besides being a true agent of innovation as it was the first film to use this type of effects created partially on computers. Cameron was a truly ambitious director with a hunger for success.

Sin embargo, su mejor película para mí, es la continuación de la saga del exterminador la que considero es su mejor película. The Terminator as a whole is my favorite action movie, because it was the first one I managed to have in DVD format with the sequels that had come out at that time. Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold Schwarzenegger are without a doubt exquisite.
Anyway, Skynet and its machine revolution is without a doubt my favorite plot in history. Because it is basic and at the same time complex, because it is science fiction and at the same time action, because it is a movie with a view to the future but that took place in that present time in which we are already immersed. Already in the decade of the 2020s, it is already that future of which some dreamed.
Today we are facing the threat of extermination, but it is not the machines that are our enemies, it is we ourselves who have insisted on using war as a language. Today, at the gates of a nuclear war, the plot of my favorite action movie seems more credible than that of reality. But even in this reality, James Cameron with all his blunders is my favorite action movie director.
The Terminator en su conjunto es mi película favorita de acción, porque fue la primera que logré tener en formato DVD con las secuelas que habían salido en aquel momento. Ya para ese entonces Cameron era un director consolidado con "Titanic" siendo la película más taquillera de la historia (ahora lo es Avatar otra gran película del director). El Exterminador me dio todo lo que necesitaba en una época dónde en la cual apenas teníamos acceso al Internet.
The Terminator es si, mi película favorita del género de acción, pero también lo es James Cameron en el ramo de los directores, porque me ha dado mucha vida a través de los años. Titanic por ejemplo es una película grandiosa, es romance, es tragedia, es historia, es acción, lo tiene todo. Mentiras Verdaderas es otra de sus películas que también me dio mucha acción, pero también comedia, no cualquier comedia sino de la inteligente, esa que se agradece. Jamie Lee Curtis y Arnold Schwarzenegger sin duda son exquisitos.
En fin, Skynet y su revolución de las máquinas es sin duda mi argumento favorito en la historia. Porque es básico y al mismo tiempo complejo, porque es ciencia ficción y al mismo tiempo acción, porque es una película con miras al futuro pero que se desarrollaba en aquella actualidad en la que ya estamos inmersos. Ya en la década de los 2020, ya es ese futuro con el cual soñaron algunos.
Hoy en día estamos ante la amenaza del exterminio, pero no son las máquinas nuestras enemigas, somos nosotros mismos que no hemos empeñado en usar la guerra como un idioma. Hoy a las puertas de una guerra nuclear el argumento de mi película de acción favorita parece más creíble que el de la realidad. Pero incluso en esta realidad, James Cameron con todos sus desatinos es mi director de películas de acción favorito.
