March 2022 - NO-BUY Month
From 1-31 March, we are running a NO-BUY Month here. This is a great way to check exactly how you are spending money, and to see if you can boost your savings by being extra-focused for a month. Find out more about doing a NO-BUY month in this post.
Even when you're a seasoned saver, sometimes things slip or there are changes in the external world that throw you off course. Right now in England, we are facing large increases in fuel, power and food. A NO-BUY Month provides a great opportunity to review how you do things and whether you want to make any changes.
In preparation for March, I've had a look at my expenses and set myself a budget for what I can buy and what is definitely a NO-NO-BUY.
NO-BUY RULES
Allowable Expenses
- Housing costs - rent or mortgage, utilities, local taxes, insurance etc.
- Fresh food - but aiming to use up pantry and freezer items.
- Eating out - 4 times in the month (includes coffee shops and going to the pub)
- Entertainment - Audiobook subscription
- Essential repairs and replacements
- Two new items of clothing
NO-BUY Items
- No shop-bought non-essential treats.
- No yarn, fabric, books, patterns, notions, stationery or cosmetics.
- No new items of furniture, housewares, technology.
- No seeds, plants or gardening items.
