It's time for another garden update! This is the 5th one and I was just looking at the previous garden posts, it's amazing to see how everything grew and changed. It's even more special when you are actually participating in preparing, planting and taking care of the fruits and veggies and it's also even more satisfying to pick them up and eat. :)
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
Fruits
We have grapes at two places, it seems like there's going to be a lot of them this season
Plums are very popular in Serbia, we use them to make rakija, which a very strong alcohol dring and plum jam. We already started collecting plums for rakija, I might make a post about rakija making :D
Young pear tree that has maybe 7-8 pears still not ready to eat but hopefully soon they will be
Blackberries are looking great this year and they are slowly getting ripe. My mom wants to make an ice cream since she has some recipe, maybe also something worth making a post about. I'll mainly use them for smoothies
Veggies
Tomatoes in the greenhouse. These days we mainly use cucumbers for salads since tomatoes are not ready yet and we are all patiently waiting
Cucumbers are sooo nice this year, these ones are also in the greenhouse. We have two kinds of cucumbers - for eating and the ones for pickles (cornichon)
This is beet/beetroot (I'm never sure how it's called, haha) that I use to hate when I was a kid but now I really like it
Another veggie I don't know how it's called in English, it's the same as string beans but different color
This is what we picked up today - cucumbers and string beans
Some of the otatoes we had for lunch today - they were delicious
I also found one zucchini today, we have these often lately
More tomatoes in the garden, there's plenty of them because we love to eat them but we also make tomato juice for cooking
Today I am so, so grateful for our garden that allows us to grow and eat all these amazing fruits and veggies and for my mom and dad who always, since I can remember, took care of the garden so we can enjoy all these benefits!
