After visiting the city of Ierapetra the purpose of our trip was the beach of Matala.
Our way passed through mountains and plains, with invariably stunning views of the sea.
Olive groves and vineyards were everywhere.
In one of the towns along the way, we saw a sample of the remarkable art of woodcarving.
We learned the history of the village of Viannos and visited the memorial to the victims of the Holocaust of Viannos.
Eventually, accompanied by goats, we reached the town of Matala at evening.
The next half a day we explored the beach of Matala.
Despite the fact that the beach is quite far from the popular resorts of the island, it is very popular.
The clean sea, small colored pebble.
The beach is known for caves in its surrounding rocks.
But most importantly, this is a lovely place for a great holiday!
Thank you for travel with me.
