Wednesday Walk: Frogner Park in Oslo, Norway

After our cool Scooter Ride through Oslo we met up with Jodi and Kimberly and walked for an hour around Frogner Park.

It is a 80 acre park (320,000 m2) with 212 sculptures by Gostav Vigeland. They were put in the park between 1924 and 1943.

This picture is taken from the Monolith looking at the fountain and just past that the flowers and then the bridge.

Scotty and I entered from the south west corner. It was beautiful and so green!

Vigeland Fountain

We made our way over to the fountain. There was a lady singing with a guitar as we walked around the fountain. We saw the 6 men statues holding up the fountain in the middle and different stages of life in the trees are on all sides.

Flower beds

Next to the fountain were some rose gardens and gorgeous flower beds. We spent a lot of time taking pictures of the flowers!

This is called the Ingrid Bergman rose. It must be for it's classic beauty.

Monolith Plateau

The Monolith Plateau is an incredible collection of sand stone sculptures showing different stages of life surrounding one very big sculpture in the middle, the Monolith!

Here are the steps and the gates going up to the Monolith.

The statues are very expressive and show some very tender moments in the human experience.

The Bridge

We then made our way to the bridge. Here are more statues by Gostav Vigeland in bronze.

Our walk out of the park.

What a great park, right in Oslo. It is free to enter and so big you can wander for hours!
