My 5th year on Hive... in review

Wow, 5 years.

The highlight of the this year... and of the 5 years I have been on Hive was the opportunity I had to go to HiveFest in person, in Amsterdam, and meet my long time friends! @asgarth, @livinguktaiwan, @delishtreats, @soyrosa

I also made some new friends @zirochka and @yozen and met many others.

Thanks @HiveBuzz for the cute badges for all the HiveFest I have attended.

Oh wait one more HiveFest badge!

Travel

Speaking HiveFest in Amsterdam, I was so happy to be able to travel internationally again.
@jarvie and I went to The Netherlands and then Norway. It was amazing.

Amsterdam

I had a wonderful time in Amsterdam. It was full of great art and architecture and cool canals and good food and friends.

Here is a collection I made of 19 authors posts of Amsterdam

DC

DC is one of my favorite cities and I visit every year. This year I went to see the Open House of the Washington DC Temple and I went to Hillwood for the first time and Wow is it amazing!

A great collection I made- Places to Visit in and around DC

Lake Powell

We had our family reunion on Lake Powell and it was awesome. I did so much jet skiing!

Lake Powell and Page, Arizona Collection

Norway

We spent an incredible week traveling around the country. A dream come true!

I would like to again give a shot out to the great people at @pinmapple for their constant support and the great map!

Oregon

After Christmas we went to the Oregon coast and on the way stopped at the Redwoods.

Blogging about my travels is one of my favorite things. I really enjoy taking the picture, doing the research about the place, and designing fun posts.

Texas

The first few post from my birthday trip to Waco, Texas just barely makes it into this 5 year review.

Art Talk: Armstrong Browning Library and MuseumShare Our World: Tiny House Airbnb in Waco, TexasShare Our World: Magnolia Tour

I also put a lot more videos in my posts this year. :)

Art Talk

I started Art Talk posts in September 2018 (Art Talk: Introduction). There are now 142 posts in the Art Talk All Collection.

The Art Talk Community was create three years later in September 2021. It has been great to see others add to it. There are currently 10 active users. It is small and I am ok with that. I blog about art because I find joy in it. I want to have a space for others to post about art too.

Each year I highlight a different area of art. In 2022 I highlighted Artists

As you can see from the list above, I highlighted Dale Chihuly, one of my favorite artists. In 2022 the Desert Botanical Garden and Taliesin West hosted Chihuly in the Desert. There were amazing glass exhibits throughout the garden and I went 27 times! I took pictures of each piece throughout the six months and in all types of light. It was amazing! I am a self proclaimed Chihuly Groupie and go to exhibits all over the world. This year the exhibit (s) came to me!

Here is a small sample of some of the Chihuly Glass.

One of the nights I went with fellow Hiver, art lover and photographer @laurabellamy. That was great fun.

I even did a little ICM with the Chihuly pieces

Wednesday Walks

One of my favorite communities is Wednesday Walk by @tattoodjay. It is so fun to see other parts of the world in a very simple way, like a walk. I also like posting my strolls, hikes and rambles around the world.

I really like making collections (Thank you PeakD for this cool feature).
In January 2022 I made A Collection of my Wednesday Walks.

I will highlight the six most popular Walks in 2022.

Wednesday Walk: Mesa Temple GardensWednesday Walk: Bishop's GardenShare Our World: Magnolia Tour
Wednesday Walk: NYC-Penn Station to South FerryShare Our World: Rainbow Bridge Monument and HikeWednesday Walk: Central Park

Restaurant Reviews

I have been blogging about my travels for 5 years now. Just this year I started do restaurant reviews which is fun cause I like to eat out when I travel.

Restaurant Review: Nomad aan het IJ (10/10)Restaurant Review: Rijks- My First Michelin Star Restaurant (8/10)Restaurant Review: Motell Restaurant and KaffeRestaurant Review: Smalhans

Restaurant Review: Magnolia Table

Garden

Another great community that I post in from time to time is the Hive Garden Community
I find a lot of peace and enjoyment being in my garden, with my hands in the soil, the sun on my back and lost in my own thoughts. Here are three of my garden posts from 2022.

I enjoy plants so much I even started a Plant Profile Series in May 2022. It didn't get very far. I might have been too ambitious to take on another series. Plant Profile: New Series

I did manage to highlight three of my favorite plants

Plant Profile: TulipsPlant Profile: AgavePlant Profile: Flowering Dogwood Tree

Collections

As I mentioned earlier @peakd is great and they are always adding to our user experience and one of my favorites is Collections. I made 9 more collections in 2022 for a total of 24.

Stats

Thank you to @hivebuzz for the fun updates, cool graphics and stats.

795 posts! That is awesome.
I hit 1000 followers in June 2022
I posted every day in a month in December 2022

2022 was a year of HiveFest, Travel, Art Talk, Wednesday Walks, Restaurant Reviews, Garden posts, and collections.

I also organized and played Season 4 Photogames and did some Crypto Talk tutorials. I have realized that it takes a lot of effort to consistently make posts that are good quality and comment on a few other posts so I need to focus my efforts this coming year.
